About Healthcare Neutral

Healthcare Neutral, LLC provides alternative dispute resolution (or “ADR”) services* exclusively for the healthcare industry.  Richard J. Webb established this firm to address a growing, unmet need in the healthcare field for efficient and effective alternatives to the traditional litigation process.  In this blogsite, you will learn about ADR, and how ADR can be used within the healthcare industry.  You also will be introduced to useful links and topical discussions to help you better utilize ADR in your healthcare business.

The decision to form Healthcare Neutral rested upon two premises:  (1) the myriad conflicts arising from the business of healthcare are encumbering an industry that is financially dynamic and under stress - thus calling out for more efficient solutions to conflict; and (2) the effective use of ADR in healthcare requires a combined expertise in both the process of dispute resolution and the substantive issues giving rise to the conflicts.

Healthcare Neutral’s office is located in the rural hills of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, just outside the quiet town of Califon.  Through the use of the latest technology, Healthcare Neutral can maintain effective communications with parties and counsel wherever they may be located at any time.  For the convenience of the parties and their counsel, Mr. Webb travels to a site determined by them to conduct ADR sessions requiring a face to face meeting. He is available to provide services as a neutral in ADR proceedings anywhere in the United States.

*Healthcare Neutral, LLC is not a law firm and does not provide legal services.

About Richard J. Webb

Richard J. Webb is the founder of Healthcare Neutral LLC.   He has been engaged in the private practice of law in New Jersey since 1978, focusing on the healthcare industry for the last 25 years. Before starting his own firm he was a senior partner in the Healthcare Practice Group of McCarter & English, L.L.P., a regional law firm of over 400 attorneys.

Mr. Webb's legal practice has taken him into many sectors of the healthcare industry, exposing him to a broad range of the financial and legal aspects of the business.  Convinced that healthcare business conflicts could be resolved more efficiently than by litigation, in 1999 he took a mediation training course offered by the American Health Lawyers Association.  Over the next eight years, as his interest in ADR grew, he took additional training; began to read extensively on the subject; became a volunteer mediator; became active in the ADR legal community; and gained valuable experience mediating dozens of civil cases as a member of the New Jersey Superior Court’s Roster of Mediators.  In 2007 he resigned from his former law firm and Healthcare Neutral was formed.

Mr. Webb is a graduate of Yale University (B.A., cum laude, 1975) and the Duke University School of Law (J.D. 1978).  His additional ADR training currently amounts to 160 hours of classroom time, including 60 hours of advanced mediation courses at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.  He has received a peer review rating of AV from Martindale-Hubbell.
